The rubber hangers that hold the muffler snug will hold the muffler up against a small rubber button. Without the button you will have direct muffler to frame contact which will cause an irritating vibration or bump sound as it moves around. Remove the hangers and pull the muffler down to make sure you have the little rubber button in between. You could probaly fabricate something to work, just make sure the muffler is firmly in place so it can't move around and does not have any metal to metal contact.

now all i need to do is fix my taiilpipe and then my car wont make any clunk noises. i got a muffler hanger from canadian tire but that doesnt seem to work too well because it still swings and hits the underside of the car when i make left hand turns. any suggestions how i could fix this better, and permanently.

thanks alot.
