Depending on how bad it is, you can indeed colorsand the orangepeel out without removing the clear coat. But it takes a good technique and careful hand. There is a forum for this but don't have the link anymore. Its called color sanding I believe.

I painted my car on Saturday and it looked beautiful. I went on and put the clear coat on and now I have the orange peel affect on it. Still looks great. 50/50 I'd say. Looks perfect 50 feet away and at 50 mph going by. Any advice on how to get this out. I was going to let it cure for a week and then wet sand it with 1500-2000 grit sand paper. Is that the right approach?
