I'm in the process of replacing mine now, I have both standard and 0.25mm undersize bearings. It looks like the standard rod bearings are about 0.080 inches thick (the bearing shell material) and the 0.25mm undersize bearings are about 0.085 inches thick. This is measured with a decent dial caliper.

The undersized bearings also have a "+.25" marked on the backside- these are all Kolbenschmidt bearings BTW.

Is ther any way other than measuring the crank to determine whether the rod bearings in a Bimmer 4 cylinder are standard size or undersize? Are they stamped or marked on the back or something?
TIA for any info!
Colin
