The best would be "plate" speakers -- separate midrange and tweeter on a plate. They are more expensive than the "two-way" variety.

I was on a budget when replacing the original Alpines in the rear and found a set of Rockford-Fosgate two-way speakers for $50. Excelent sound for a small package.

I later sought replacements for the front and could not locate Rockford-Fosgates for the same price. The best I could do was a set of Boston CX-7e speakers for $50.

The Rockford's are far and away better speakers. Greater sensitivity and brighter sound. to balance the front with the rear I have to fade toward the Boston's, even though they are closer to me, being in the front kick panels.

Just my 2 cents.

Gabe

Hey whats the best sounding speakers that will fit without cutting the car up? Haven't looked in a while, but last time I did there wasn't much available in the 4x6 size. Anyone got recommendations based on experience??

Thanks

Mike
