It's easy enough to remove the whole business anyway. Leave the control arm connected to strut when you remove it so you don't have to separate and possibly damage the ball joint. Working on the struts is much easier on a bench, too. Basically two nuts on the control arm disconnect it from the suspension. You'll also have to separate the outer tie rod end and remove the caliper from the strut.
