I would plan on the following: Vacuum/Boost gauge ($40), Oil pressure ($70), Exhaust Temp Gauge ($185), Mixture gauge ($40). Although expensive, the EGT gauge is a critical instrument for a turbo engine. It is best installed on the exhaust manifold but for safety most install it in the exhaust stream after the turbo, since if anything happens to the pyro probe, you don't want it taking out your turbo also. The 4 gauges should fit nicely in the cassette holder location.

Anyone know what would be a good set of VDO gauges for a 1982 745i ? I will be replacing the engine(when i find one) and would like to avoid the event that put me in this situation again. Also, did BMW ever put sock boost and oil temp/pressure etc. gauges in these cars in the first place? thanks everyone
dave
