Brake light / knocking noise??? (archive)

Recently my brake light has been coming on about 80% of the time when the brakes are applied. Its only on for a little bit, then goes out. When it first started (a month ago?) it was very qiuck...now it stays on a little longer. And today. when I parked & was about ready to shut it down, I noticed a faint "knocking" sound, for lack of a better way to describe it...Im sure its something to do with the brakes, because when I hit the pedal it disappears for a bit...definetly a cause & effect thing...it sounds like its coming from the interior somewhere, as the is no hint of it under the hood...ANY SUGGESTIONS??! tHANKS -Aaron
