Good point - GM (Rochester?) HVAC design is very nice. Yet, my A/C blows ICE COLD - most of the time ... I think the system tries to get too cute with the overall control, and there is too great an opportunity to get some exterior air blended into the system and/or the heater valve allows some heat into the cabin ... wonder if disconnecting the heater control valve - so it would *never* allow hot water to flow into the HVAC unit - would help???

Yeah - I can't *believe* some components on my 16 year old car are starting to wear out either - shouldn't it last forever???? The comment about the BMWNA, referring to how BMWs are marketed is right on - give me cable control HVAC any day.

Truth is, the A/C on the US E23 sucks. I recently rode in a rattly, rusty GM car of the same era and the A/C was 10 times better than my pride and joy's. Now, if GM, which built nothing but crap during the 80s (ask me how I know) could put ice cold A/C in a $12K car, why couldn't BMW do the same with a $40K+ car?

I love my 733i but I rarely drive it in the summer (I live in south Florida) because my lowly Mustang GT blows a) more air and b) colder air in the lowest setting than my 7 does at full blast.
