Are you sure that's the stock size? From what I've read stock is 205/70/14. Check out the Tire Rack for oem sizes for your car. I've got 225/60/14 BF Goodrich S rated tires mounted on 14" oem wheels on mine and they have good wet/dry performance and they just clear the front strut towers without spacers.

I own a '79 733i as a daily driver, commuting over 100 mi./day on the I-5 up and down big hills here in oregon. I need new tires with excellent wet weather handling,and want to
stay with stock 215/70/14. Having trouble finding ANY tires
with proper H or V speed rating. Please help!
