Labor charge is the killer. Most will charge from 10-14 hours labor on this one. If your reasonably competent you can do it yourself. A really good site for this is the link below. Although it's for an e32, I don't think they're that different.

Does this sound right????? That's pretty expensive. How hard is it to do yourself? My car is a 85 735i. Do they replace everything like sensors, vac hoses, relays,what is it that cost so much? I live in Baltimore. Does anyone know a good BMW mechanic within 50 miles. Thanks for advice.
