i was wondering if the vaccum ball is bad because air only blows out defrost vents ??? help

even if your vacuum pump is inop, remove or bypass the check valve and see if your vents will energize with the vacuum from the manifold. Just follow the vacuum line from the water heater valve back to a tee which goes to the vaccum pump and the other line will go under the manifold with a check valve in line.

Let me know if it works.
