The worst thing about the TRXs was that they were too hard to get, and everyone wanted to ream you when you bought them. They DID tend to get noisy from the compound getting hard, but most Michelins seem to do that.
Lots of jokes were made about the '70s Michelins just getting smaller in diameter and never wearing on the tread! As for 14" tires in a 195/70 or 205/70/14 size, has anyone tried the low cost, very decent Yokohama AVID tires? Very good dry and rain manners, only in a touring tread for the most part, and not a high speed tire rating though.
Have had great luck with them on mine and lots of friends BMWs that are in the same "no choices" catagory of 14" tires. I have a friend who treats them like a V rated high performance tire, but they aren't really made for that kind of driving.
