Driver's side speakers (archive)

Hello All:
We have a 1980 733i. The driver's side speakers, both front and back don't work. I think it's the wiring to these speakers. It's not the radio, infact I have connected a wire from the radio to the front speaker and everything works just fine. So my feeling is that the wiring between the radio and the speakers is broken.

My question is does anyone have any thoughts as to the likely break in the wiring? The speaker wire seems to travel way back into the dash. How would one go about finding out where the break is?? Or should I just rewire the speakers??
