You can't just throw a turbo on that engine. The M102 has different dished lower compression pistions for a reason. They are stronger and the lower compression is needed if you are going to put any type of blower on the motor. The rods are probably a lot beefier too. You have to understand that the M30 was designed to make 190 some odd HP and the M102 was designed to make much more. Turbo engines are a different breed of animal than normally aspirated or even a superchared engine. Even if you did buy a turbo from say KORMAN or some other reputable aftermaket firm for the M30 you would not be able to run anywhere near 15-18psi w/o HEAVY modifications to the bottom end of the motor not to mention a copper head gasket. There are quite a few nice low mile (less than 100k) 745i's for sale on Autotrader. No these car will not be as perfect as a car that has never been driven but 12k, but a car that only gets 10k a year or less has to be taken care of a little bit. There is way to many components to swap from a 745i and unless you have an L7 the buffalo interior on the 745i is much better than the leather and teak on the standard 733i/735i. You would be suprised how little of the engine bay componentry is the same between a 733i/35 and a 745i. I was. Keep the 735i stock and enjoy it for what it is, and with the money you save on the conversion, invest it in a sub 100k 745i. Happy motoring!
