It's fairly easy to replace the diff's. The only problem may be the back cover since the support bracket that fits in the rear diff mount may be positioned differently. Seems the back covers are interchangable, though, so you just swap them.

No adjustments need to be done for speedo calibration as it's all done in the diff. The only thing that affects the speedo is changes in tire diameter.

Brian,

I was looking at doing a rear axle swap to a 3.45 for my 745. How familiar are you with the swap? I was looking to change the center section to perform this swap. This seems easiest at this point. What about the speedo gearing. Is it electronic or gear driven? In either case something needs to be done to keep the speedo accurate.

Also, how does the 3.45 perform in terms of acceleration (0-60 times or 1/4 mi), top speed, and mileage? I've seen gear changes of this type actually increase mpg in city with almost no impact on highway mileage. Please provide some feedback.

Anybody out there have a 745 with 3.45 gears and a five speed that can add some information?

Thanks

Rich 745
