I had a no start problem on my 86 735i. I removed the passenger speaker panel. Part of the harness to the ECU included a 3 wire with plastic disconnect. The center green wire should get 12v and that goes to the ECU. Mine wasnt getting any voltage, I believe this wire is in line with the green wire behind ignition switch. I ran a seperate lead from near the ignition switch directly to wire by ECU, just spliced them onto existing wire, and seems to solve problem. Might be worth a try, if your car is similar. The problem is that the fuel pump relay is NOT getting a ground signal. I understand the ground comes from the ECU. *AND* even when I jump a ground it still gets no spark. Coil has been checked -> Good I am Assuming that the ECU is bad but what else can it be?
