Look for loose solder joints where it's attached to the board - this was the cause of my speedo not working. They can be tough to see - you may need a magnifying glass. You can touch them with a soldering gun to fix.

I have a 1985 735i and the temperature gauge has stopped working. I checked the sending unit and is OK.When I removed the instrument cluster from the dashboard, it appears that the temp. gauge can not be removed from the board. Do I need to change the entire printed board in order to replace the temp. gauge?. Any help will be very much appreciated.
Miguel
