I am taking a hands-on auto mechanics course (basic stuff) and next week we will be doing brakes. The instructor is quite happy for me to do the rotors and brakes in the allocated time. He mentioned that it should be a mattef of pulling the old rotors off and replacing with the news one.
As I have never done this before. Could the kinds souls please advis on how complex the repair is and if possible some steps.
I checked my local parts supplier (LordCo) and they have rotors for CAD$99 each and a set of disc pads for CAD$42.

You did not mention the year and model number of your auto, but this should be a straight forward operation. After jacking up car and removing the front wheels, remove the calipers. Do NOT remove the brake line! Then remove the brake pads. You will have to unplug the pad thickness dectector wire. The rotor is removed by removing the cotter key, retaining nut and washers and then pulling the rotor off of the spindle. I suggest that you repack the wheel bearings and install a new back bearing seal for the new rotors. Before you install the new brake pads retract the pistions on the calipers to allow for clearance on the new rotor.
