HVAC = Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning system. The pump supplies vacuum to the HVAC and stores it in the vacuum reservoir located under the front cowl. If any hoses, vacuum motors, or tee connections are leaking then the pump will run more often trying to supply the system with the necessary vacuum. The best online source for information on the HVAC is Callan's site, see link below.

It is your HVAC vacuum pump. You have a leak somewhere if it runs more than 45 seconds. Look for the leak as the pump will burn itself out if left running to long. This pump is quite expensive and sometimes hard to find.

It is definitely running more than 45 seconds. This is a bit of a new adventure for me, so I would appreciate some input. What kind of leak am I looking for? What does HVAC stand for, and what does it do? I would appreciate some tips on how to diagnose the this problem...

Thanks,

Hanif.
