Winter has finally arrived here in NW PA and it time again to address the dreaded HVAC bugs on my '86 735.
Last winter I had a few vacuum leaks that got repaired, blower motor replace, thumbwheel replace, pushbutton replace,
etc. I now notice that my LED's on the PB panel sometimes don't come on again. Sometimes they will flicker. I had the car out tonite and it worked OK, but on 2 occasions the system just quit, LED's out and all. Some playing with the PB's and air volume thumbwheel got it running again.
What am I missing in the system??
The PB controls were new BMW parts and not rebuilt/reworked.
Thumbwheel assy was also BMW.
Any and all comments are appreciated! Thanks guys,
Tom M. in PA
Tom isn't working on the HVAC fun! Anyway one suspect could be the plug on the back of the function select circuit board and the plug on the back of the blower and heater control circuit board. I have had problems with the plug in the past and the contacts that are on the circuit board. Another possible source is the contacts on the push buttons at they contact the metal strips on the top of the circuit board. This button problem occurs with my car because from May until September the Aircondition Auto button is left in the on position and I never push any of the other buttons until it cools off in the fall.
