at work. For several years it was ILLEGAL to install a speedometer that indicated speeds in excess of 85mph.

The same bone headed idiots who gave us the passive retraints (seatbelts that strangled us or belts that were driven by motors in the door opening)felt that drivers were uncontrollably incited to spped because the higher numbers printed on the scale encouraged them to do so. Their idea was that if we couldn't SEE the higher speeds, we would drive more slowly.

After all, in the eyes of Bureaucrats, we are all children that needed to be controlled by Government Nazis that know what is best for us. Sorry-even the Nazis had the autobahn.

I was wondering if anyone knew the actual top speed for a 733i (1982 non-euro) Or did BMW rip us off and give us a car that only does 85mph while the 735 can get to approx. 140mph with an engine that is .2L larger.
Also if the Top Speed is above 85mph is there a way to swap the face and reprogram the movement so it is like a 735's Speedo....but with out changing the O.D.O. if possible.

Thanks ~ James
PS please email me.....I dont check back often.
