I had a few questions I was hoping to get some answers on:
1) The starter solonoid has TWO spade connectors. One on top, one on bottom. But as far as I can tell only one wire that would connect, that being the black/yellow. Now is it supposed to go to the top or bottom? I have it on the bottom now, and the car starts, but I notice when I disconnect it & switch the key to "start" position, the fuel pump runs...I think it will do the same when connect to the top...not sure if it starts tho, because my battery was near dead....IS there supposed to be another wire there somewhere, or just the one? Which brings me to my fuel pump ?'s: Should the pump run with the key simply in the "start" position or should you have to be cranking it? Also is the check valve everyone talks about it the main (external) pump, or the "in tank" pump?? TIA for answers!

I just had the same problem on my 733i during a engine refitting. The starter selonid has two prongs but they are{should} different sizes. One a small size and then a standard size. There should be a pair of connectors from the wiring harness shrouded in a blue shield. Also my harness had the connectors which had different colored shields. I will check the exact routing today and leave a message latter on the exact connection. I just followed the same configuration as my 528i which had similar wiring.
