The gear may just be slipping. It is designed to do this a bit. If it is set up like mine there is an allen screw in the center of a large nut. Visible through the inspection opening in the roof. Place an allen wrench in the middle and hold...tighten the outer nut slightly...try the switch...repeat if still slipping. Do this little by little, you don't want to break the shaft.

O'k, I took a chance and stuck in a relay like the others. The seat heaters now work and the sunroof motor sounds like it is running, but the sunroof doesn't open. Anyone familiar with the inners of the sunroof gearbox? It will operate just fine with the hand crank, so my first suspicion is a bad gear in the gear box.

O'k, adjusting the nut did the trick. The sunroof now works correctly, as do the seat heaters and rear defroster. However, the relay engages as soon as it is plugged into the socket, even with the ignition sw off. As I just purchased the car, I imagine that is why the relay was missing in the first place. Any one with a good idea as to what to check next? I figure I can plug in the relay and see what else gets hot, unplug the different circuits to see if I can isolate the problem, or just leave it out until I need a defroster or seat heater. Considering I'm in Florida, I can get by without the seat heater, but the sunroof is nice. Any realistic suggestions?
