What is this resistor? (archive)

In the Motronic controller #0 261 200 008 there is a large blue colored resistor that has four selection positions, labeled 0,1,2, and 3. Are these the adjustments for fuel injector opening time and spark advance? If so can someone tell me what each position represents. This controller came out of a 1985 535i 5 speed.
