thanks
I had similar problems during engine / drive train restoration on a 79 733i. Several thing could be a problem. 1: ensure cold start valve is working, nearly impossible to start cold engine without it. 2: check for spark coming from first the coil to chassis ground during starting then second check spark at #1 spark plug. 3: check the fuel coming from the fuel pump[s] to the injector pressure rail. 4: Check resistance of all sensors temp, time delay. I have tried different relays but found they usually o/k and very robust and any fault is accompanied by a burnt-out condition {physically melted or burnt}. These are the basic's I used to get a refitted engine to start running
