We have two'85s, one 6 and one 7. Question is how long can the timing chains reasonably be expected to last? Hers has 217K(kms), mechanic looked at it and said it looks just fine; mine has 245K (kms) and is not noisy. Thanks, Gary

Gary,
Big 6 timing chain and components are tough items and can go for 200K plus easily.I have never heard of any breaking at all. If you have a chance to tear front timing cover off, seal leak repair etc., you should at least inspect sprockets for excessive wear and check tensioner items.
Good Luck,

Nathan
