My 745 has 120K miles and the timing chain guide was broken. I decided to replace it, so while in I changed the chain and guide and tensioner. The chain showed minimal wear. The broken guide had no impact on the operation of the engine. I would agree with others that the chain and sprokets will last for 200-300K miles.
