Haven't noticed the problem with my L7, but on my 535 the fuel tank inlet is, I'm told, prone to corrosion and eventually rusts enough to leak. So I get a little leakage and odor when the tank is full. You can also see a little bit of a dark stain on the side of the fuel tank. In my case, it doesn't leak enough to accumulate, just enough to provide an odor.
