HELP: How to get into locked E23 with dead battery (archive)

I could use some assistance. I've got a 88 735i with a dead battery and locked doors. I (and three separate AAA tow truck drivers/locksmiths) have tried normal door jimming tools and two tips from the dealer to get into this vehicle with no luck. We've tried: 1) turning key in lock towards front of car on both driver/passenger doors while lifting the handle and 2) sticking a coat hanger in locking wiring socket in trunk and giving the system a volt with jumper cables connected to another running vehicle. Neither worked. Before I smash a window any suggestions?
