I own an 83 733i. My power locks have issues. The doors will lock with no problem, but they will not unlock. When the key is turned for unlocking them, it does absolutely nothing, it doesnt even make any sounds. I am fairly new to working on BMW, any help as to what might be causing this would be really helpful. Thank You

there is a central locking unit under the kick panel near the drivers door - the panel covers everything under the steering column. It is a long thin black box with a connector coming out its top - this is probably the cause of the problem. Mine didn't work at all - I took it apart and found that a piece of the cicuit board burned out. I jumped the connection and it worked for about half a year... I think new ones are around $80. When you replace it, make sure all your doors and trunk lock and unlock - a bad lock motor can burn out the central locking unit.
