This message forum has been a lot of help so far..:) Thanks for all the good info. I have yet another question about my 83 733i. I am REALLY new to working on BMW's. My OBC (on board computer) display was not working, so I pulled the OBC, and found that it had a blown fuse, upon replacement of that, the display is still not working. How do I tell if it is the OBC or the display in the console that is bad? Also, the car would not start when the OBC was unplugged, thus leading me to believe that the OBC is good because when it is plugged in, the car starts fine. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. Thank you again for all of the help recieved from the board.
