It is a fairly strait foreward swap. I just did it to a 635. The 745 would be the same except for the exhaust issues. The transmission brain is just that. It will not effect the engine. there was a article in the Roundel several years ago about a guy in Texas that autocrossed a 745 stick
with great success. The article went through sourcing the parts- right down to making the cruise control kick off when the clutch pedal was depressed. Check the archives or buy the old Roundels on CD. I think that car was actually for sale about a year later in the back of the magazine.


Has anyone done this before.. I have gone over it with numerous people who havent done it-- and gone through all the senarios as to what might happen. but I need to see what REALLY is achievable not what MIGHT happen- The engine is motronic and I am wondering about getting a flywheel on the engine and the whole attaching the Getrag 260 to the motor..throwout bearing and all...I am pretty sure the tranny brain can be bypassed with relative ease.. so that really isnt an issue.
Any info would be great here... and thanks for all the help with this project so far!!
