Looking for a blower motor for an 84 733i. Certain its shot. Also prior to its demise the HVAC only worked as a defroster - read something about transistors - sound familiar to anyone? Thanks

Keven, most of the time the blower motor and defrost mode only are two seperate issues. The blower motor is located under the cowling (photo to your email). Most BMW aftermaket suppliers can provide a new blower motor and or a blower motor with fan cages. I suggest you shop around as prices are all over the map for this item. If you can remove the old cages and re-install them on your new motor then a new motor can be had for about 150 dollars. I would discourage use of a used blower motor unless you knew that it was not very old!

The defrost mode only is a problem in the control system. Low or no vacuum to the HVAC. Non operating function select switches. Bad circuit boards in the controlls. Non functioning temperature control wheel. Or a mixture of all or some of the above.
