I purchased a Used A/C control dash module from a parts yard today. Could someone tell me how to remove the dash panel to replace the unit? Is there any advice to give to assist making this install hassle free?

Any others who have encountered A/C problems with their 735 please tell your solutions! Looking to get 100% of A/C compacity. Florida summers are brutal.

Thanks

the dash panel is the easy part if the 735 is anything like an 82 733i. Take out you radio. It will be different depending what type of radio you have. If it is a modern DIN opening just remove the radio trim (pops of with a little prying. Then flip two little levers on the side and jiggle like mad. Its a bit of a puzzle but give it 5 minutes of patience and you probably wont break anything. If it is the kind with a knob on both sides youll have to find out from someone else. Then pull off the mounting sleeve if there is any. You should see two bolts right under the radio opening. Take those off. Then there are a few screws (4 or 5 i forgot) that secure the top of the panel. Take those off. Now the panel should be free. Here comes the fun part. There are about a million wires going to the AC control harness/lights/and onboard computer. Tug one of these suckers off and the whole unit WILL NOT WORK. It happened to me and i still cant find which one i pulled off. I suggest labeling each one as you pull them off. Now install the new panel. Also, word of advice: try to disturb the rats nest of wires back there AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE. Did that and nearly shorted something out. Well good luck, its really not as complicated as I make it out to be. I hope this helps.
