I have a topsider. It has worked well with our MB 300E, but not with our 535is and 735i. And I don't know why.

Continuing my odyssey into caring for a 733i. A friend
with a contemporary 5-series uses a "topsider" suction
tool to remove old oil -- it certainly beats getting
underneath with a collection pan, much less messy!

Not sure if the dipstick tubes on an E23 go all the
way to the bottom of the oil and trans pans, though.
Has anyone used one successfully?
