Item 1
Am I in the correct forum? Or should I be in the E32 or E38 forums?
Item 2
The inside edge of the passenger rear tire has an extreme amount of wear. The tire has either too much camber in or toe out. I have received conflicting info on repair from BMW mechanics. One source stated that the rear tires in this model and year have alignment adjustment. The other source stated that there is no adjustment. Which is correct?
Also, does this year and model come with automatic air suspension? If so, can this be eliminated if the strut assembly is replaced? Recommendations on what to replace are welcome.
Item 3
All 4 tires on my car are P225/60R14. The door label spec calls for 205/70R14. I need to replace my 2 rear tires. What make and size do you recommend? Also, I would like to hear the pros/cons - of leaving the old tires on the front and putting new correct size tires on the rear - in regards to the effect on the ABS.
Thanks for your help!
This forum looks great, lots of help, and very active, glad that I found you!
Your in the right place. As to your tire wear, inside wear on the rear tires is often a result of the differential mount failing. It allows the diff. to hang too low and, as its part of the suspension, changes the geometry. If only 1 side is wearing badly, and both tires have been on there the same period of time, then you may have another problem.
