I seem to have the same problem as you do. I can start easily when cold. But anything above 35 degress celsius and the car won't crank. If I let it cool awhile, it starts up fine.

I've been told by a mechanic it has to do with the solenoid.
PS: Are you Downunder too? Which state? I'm in NSW

i suspect it is the soleniod deformuing with the
heat but it sounds as though it is engaging!! but
not cranking going on.

sometimes when cold starting there is a lag
before the crank where you can just hear the
whirr of the extra high speed fuel pump at the
rear of the car but no crank.
