Trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd (archive)

I have a 1982 733i with a 5spd gearbox. All of the gears shift smoothly except when going from 1st to 2nd. There is no grinding however if i dont match RPMs exactly the shifting jerks the car as soon as the clutch is lifted. Im assuming the syncromesh has worn out, does anyone have any advice on where to start? Any advice would help a lot, thanks.
