I have been told that my "brake bomb" is what is causing an indicater light to light. I dont doubt it. My question is, just what goes bad in this rather simple looking device?

Question 2) Can someone tell me where the fuel effeciency gauge gets its info from? Mine swings wildly from side to side and I want to know why. There seems to me no noticible vacume leak and engine rpm does not have an effect on it.
