What do you all think? Is a driveshaft replacement a doable job for a shade tree mechanic or should I pay the two hours labor to be safe?

So far I have quotes ranging from $650 to $950 for the job. That doesn't include the guibo. Warranties are from 1 year to 3 years.

From QUICKE23's post, I can get the driveshaft for $300.The guibo (flexible disk) is another $50 from the dealer (and it looks a little worse for the wear). I didn't see driveshafts at Metric Mechanic, but I can call later. I'm waiting for a quote from allbmw.

I'm just wondering if there are issues here that I need to know about. Such as: difficulty of removal and reassembly of the exhaust system; tricky installation of the driveshaft.
