no problems. I bought a remanufactured from Driveline, out of Portland, Oregon. It came with greasable u-joints and a new center bearing. I did not remove the exhaust system. I just removed the clamp from the rear muffler support and lowered the exhaust down to a point to remove the shaft. I also removed the heat shield to make the job easier. I did the job in my driveway on a Saturday. Driveline has ads in the Roundel. I believe the cost was around $400.

Any opinions on the remanufactured driveshafts available from allbmwparts?

I'm not sure I need just a center support bearing or the entire driveshaft, yet, but... the driveshaft from the local BMW dealer is $640. Ouch. That is a significant fraction of what I bought the car for. Very significant.

Mind you, I'm not complaining about all these little problems I've been posting. I just like working on cars :-)
