I have an H7s but have no experience with the 745. I think you may be correct in that the 45 is faster in the middle but the Hartge does have about 335 nm torque (but at 4000). My opinion is that I would prefer the Hartge because it is just a standard 7. All the parts are readily available and the engine is not as stressed as the turbo. Ok I would really want a worked 45 with about 450 HP (wastegate adjustment, injectors, exhaust [put in a Hartge it is the BEST I have ever heard on a Bimmer-6cyl.] But this engine will only last 30,000 before a rebuild.

Now for handling, I'll take my worked 535 over the 7 anyday. The 7 is red springs lowered, (4.5 inches ground to front spoiler), Bilsteins, stock sways and new steering and control arms. The 5 has suspension tehniques coils, bilsteins and stock bars. The 5 is lighter and much more tossable. Must be why everyone really likes the M3s.

Like I was telling my Audi 2CTQ buddy, the Hartge lites off the line, the Audi starts to move trying to catch the H7. As the revs build the Audi is just about to overcome turbo lag, but wait the Hartge is coming on cam, and staying there to about 150 as I row through the gears. Yes it's a 5-speed!!!!!
