'84 733i with dead battery (archive)

Battery went dead after car was unused for about one week. I don't see any lights left on. After jumping battery, it was dead again next morning.

The battery and alternator are less than 1 year old. I remember reading somewhere that these cars require a special type of battery, but it seems odd that a battery would only last 1 year.

I haven't had a chance to investigate yet, but I planned to first put a meter between the Pos. battery terminal and the cable. Can someone please tell me what current it will draw when key is off. Next, I will have the battery, then the alternator checked. Any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks for the help
