Battery discharge light came on, went off, now (archive)

Hi!

I was driving in the rain today and the battery discharge light came on. I pulled over thinking it would stall any minute, but it didn't stall while I kept it idling for about 15 minutes. The lights were just as bright and I kept all of the equipment on (cd player, heater, phone plugged in) while it was idling. Then I decided to drive a bit and after a few minutes the discharge light went off. But then I noticed the discharge light is now barely glowing (you can only notice it in the dark, very slight glow). Is the altenator about to die or is it the SI board that needs some attention?
