I need to get the instrument cluster out to repair the odometer. How do you take the steering wheel out with the airbag system. What are the procedures?

Frank,
The instrument clust comes out without removing the steering wheel on an L7. If the Wheel telescopes at all bring it all the way out. If not take a terry cloth towel and drape it over the steering wheel so that the clear cover doesn't scratch, remove the three philips head screws at the top, and carefully with a very small flat head screwdriver pry the cluster away from the glove leather without scratching the finish. With the small screwdriver reacg behind and unplug the black tab on the closest connector, I believe it is blue, and work your way along the back of the cluster unplugging. The steering wheel now has to be turned to the right about 30 degrees and the cluster will slide out and down. It will fit just jiggle the wheel to the open area on it. good luck steve

Also, to protect the leather apply some Lexol or similar just before removing and installing the cluster to help it slide. The first time I reinstalled mine it scratched the leather all up.
