I took the speedometer out of my 85 735i to take a look at why the odometer doesn't work. As expected the little black plastic odometer drive gear has the teeth sheared off. Does anyone know where to buy this part? I called a local speedo repair shop, they have the gear but want to charge me $200 to 'totally rebuild' my speedo. I see lots of inquiries on this board about non-functioning odometers and I think this is more often than not the true source of the problem.
Any help appreciated!
