You either have a fan clutch out, or an auxiliary fan not coming on. If you can resolve the problem by pulling air through the heater core, which represents more fan activity, that's the first place to start. If you run at halfway normally, you may want to check the radiator for obstruction, either externally through the core. Backwash it (spray through the backside, forward) to clean out any bugs, etc. and consider having it checked out by a radiator shop for internal flow. would require removal of radiator to do this properly.

My problem was an improperly adjusted auziliary fan, not coming on at the right temperature.

How can I check if the auxiliary fan is running ?
Should it stay running when hot after the car is shut off like some other cars.
I owned the car for 10 years and I never heard or seen it run.
