The differences in the 1986 L7 vs the 735i is mostly cosmetic. Except for the headliner and carpeting the entire interior is leather. No wood on the console or doors. The leather is very nicely done IMHO and holds up extremely well. I get coments always whenever anyone sees my car. Additionally, this car was the first BMW to have an air bag (driver's side). ABS brakes and power everything. I don't think there were any options available on the L7.

I'm crossing over from the 6er board since I own an 87 -
635CSI. Question, I previously owned a 1986 735i and I saw
a 1986 L7 listed in the local paper for sale which I'm
thinking about looking at to buy. I've seen pictures of
an L7 and it looks a great deal like a 735i. Are there
major differences in the cars other than like interior
upgrades, like different engine, suspension, etc. I had a
lot of A/C problems with the 735i which most A/C repair
shops wouldn't even look at, and that's why I sold the car.
Any input from you guys would be appreciated. The 6er is
more like a sport model and I kinda miss the real wood and
ride of the 735i I previously owned.
