temp dependent rough idle (archive)

the car is an '84 euro 735i thus no icm, only an icv. when the external temp is below about 60 deg f the idle is fine, above 75/80 deg f the idle goes to &*(( and the car will die. accelerating or driving at either temp is fine, thus i don't suspect a fuel issue. any other things to try? tia.
