Start pulling the head, but before you do, remove the crank nut.

The broken rocker is a bad sign. They only get that way when a piston hits a valve. Exhaust valves for 745i's are sodium filled, which means expensive.

You'll probably have to replace the cam sprocket, and the crank sprocket. None of this is much fun with the engine in the car.
